The final count for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections has concluded, and the Election Commission of India has announced the outcome for all Lok Sabha constituencies on 4th June, 2024.
Today’s News :
The BJP emerged victorious in 240 out of 543 seats, while the Congress secured 99 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the government for a third consecutive term, supported by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which has obtained a majority in the Lok Sabha.
Although the BJP fell short of the 272-majority mark, it will rely on NDA allies to form the government.
The election results did not deliver the overwhelming victory anticipated by the BJP-led NDA or as indicated by the exit polls.
The BJP faced setbacks in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, struggled in the south, and saw limited success in West Bengal.
However, it triumphed in Odisha, winning 20 out of 21 seats, with Congress securing the remaining seat and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) failing to win any.
The BJP’s tally of 240 seats marks a decrease from previous elections, while Congress increased its count from 52 seats in 2019 to 99 in 2024.
For the first time, since the Bharatiya Janata Party swept to power in 2014, it did not secure a majority on its own.
Andhra Pradesh
N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is set for a comeback in Andhra Pradesh after a stunning victory in the state’s Assembly polls show. The party contested the polls in alliance with BJP and Pawan Kalyan’s JanaSena Party.
The YSR Congress party, led by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, contested for all 175 seats, while the Telugu Desam Party, led by N Chandrababu Naidu, fielded candidates in 144 seats. Its alliance partners—Jana Sena, led by actor Pawan Kalyan—contested in 21 seats and the BJP in 10 seats.
The TDP, which is now part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) along with the State’s Jana Sena Party (JSP), secured 135 seats. The Pawan Kalyan-led JSP handsomely chipped in by winning 21 seats, while the BJP secured victories in eight seats.
On the other hand, the YSRCP had won 11 seats.
The NDA alliance could win 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in State, with the TDP headed for wins in 17, the JSP two and BJP three. One the other hand YSRCP won 4 Lok Sabha Seats.
Odisha
The BJP got majority in the Odisha Assembly by winning 78 seats in the 147-member House on Tuesday, according to the Election Commission of India after counting concluded. The BJD which is in power in Odisha since 2000 won 51 Assembly seats and the Congress has won 14 Assembly seats.
Meanwhile, BJP has secured 20 seats in the Odisha Lok Sabha elections out of the 21 seats and BJD has secured one.
Uttar Pradesh
As per the latest results and trends of the general election 2024 for the 80 parliamentary constituencies of Uttar Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party has managed to win 33 seats. Samajwadi Party has won 37 seats, Congress 6 seats, Rashtriya Lok Dal RLD 2 seats, and ASPKR and ADAL both has won 1 seat each.
PM Modi has won from his lok sabha seat Varanasi. Rahul Gandhi won by a large margin from his Rae Bareli seat.
Telangana
The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Telangana is underway, with 17 seats up for grabs. The elections in Telangana were conducted in a single phase on April 19.
In the 17 parliamentary constituencies, BJP secured 8 seats, Congress 8, and AIMIM won 1 (Hyderabad), while BRS failed to secure any seats.
Tamil Nadu
The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu is underway, with 39 seats up for grabs. The elections were held in Tamil Nadu in a single phase on April 19.
In the 39 Parliamentary Constituencies, DMK secured 22 seats, Congress 9, and Others won 8 while BJP failed to secure any seats.
