Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in a meeting with top security brass in the wake of terror attacks in the Union territory.

Shah also gave directions to call a meeting on June 16 in the North Block to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and preparation of the Amarnath Yatra.J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, senior officers from Army, Police, J&K administration and MHA will attend the meeting.
Shah’s meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the security situation in J&K after a series of terror incidents including an attack on bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi.
The prime minister asked the officials to deploy the “full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities”. He also spoke to J&K LG Manoj Sinha who briefed him on the efforts being undertaken by the local administration.
Terrorists carried out attacks in Reasi, Kathua and Doda district of J&K in the past four days, killing nine pilgrims and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan. Seven security personnel and several others were also injured.
Two suspected Pakistani terrorists were also killed in an encounter with security forces in Kathua, and a large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
On 9th June, Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists had opened fire on a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims when it was en route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra from the Shiv Khori temple. Under attack from the terrorists, the bus fell into a deep gorge, killing nine people and injuring 41 others.
On 11th June, terrorists fired at a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police at Chattergalla in Bhaderwah while a search party in the Gandoh area of the district was attacked on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to seven security personnel, including a policeman.
